It was a monument standing near the Yaeyama Museum. Only the characters were engraved on the front and the explanation was written at the bottom. It was built in 2003, and it became clear that it was abolished in 1903, 100 years ago, in the Meiji era.

There was once a notorious head tax, and there is a history that the people of Yaeyama suffered, but this was also a problem of the whole Okinawa, so it is necessary to learn in relation to it. The monument to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the abolition of the head tax is large and magnificent.
