It is one of the seven Tennoji slopes on the slope that goes down from the Kamimachi plateau to Tennoji Shimojimachi in Matsuya Town. It is said that it was named because the undulations resemble snakes (kuchinawa) when looking at the road from Sakashita. Around the slope, there are also tombs of ancestors who were active in the Edo period and a memorial monument for Basho. It is a quiet narrow cobblestone slope.
