Huxi Temple

At the foot of Yuping Mountain in the northeast corner of Siming District. According to legend, there was a stone cave in the valley in ancient times, and there was a tiger in the cave, which was called Tiger Cave. On Huxi Mountain, the forests are lush, the rocky valleys are secluded, the rocks are jagged, and the Mingquan is clear. Among them, "Huxi Night Moon" is listed as one of the eight scenic spots in Xiamen. Huxiyan was built in the late Wanli period (1602-1620) of Emperor Shenzong of the Ming Dynasty. At that time, when there was a Shilin Mao in Xiamen, he was obsessed with stones and called himself a "stone idiot". In order to love this mountain, the cliffs stood tall and craggy, that is, the lotus hoe and hoe, and he went into the mountain to dig caves. First, the "White Deer Cave" on the back of the mountain and the "Price Room" and "Mitian Cave" in the front of the mountain were built, and the four characters of "Predge" and "Mitian" were inscribed on the two holes respectively. . According to "Xiamen Chronicles", another scholar Chi Xianfang built the "Yuping Temple" on Yuping Mountain during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty. Yuping Temple was destroyed in the Xiamen war in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties. In the 40th year of Emperor Kangxi (1700), Wu Ying, the Admiral of the Fujian Navy, donated money to build Huxiyan, and hired the Jinjiang monk Yuanfei to preside over the construction of the temple. Monk Yuanfei presided over the reconstruction of Huxiyan Temple. After more than ten years of operation, he has successively rebuilt Daxiong Hall, Xiaofeng Pavilion, Chuiyun Tower, Duhu Bridge, as well as the climbing stone trail and the stone wall in front of the temple. After completion, the Yuping Temple was changed to Huxiyan.
