Kagoshima Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Sakurajima Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Summer in Kagoshima
Kagoshima, a seaside city on Japan's Kyushu Island, is the capital of Kagoshima Prefecture. It's best known for Sakurajima, an active volcano that faces Kinko Bay. At its base, the Nagisa Lava Trail winds through lava fields filled with boulders. Once set on an isolated island, the volcano became connected to the Osumi Peninsula after an eruption in 1914.
It’s quite easy to walk down to the ferry terminal and get on the boat to Sakurajima. No ticket required - just pay when you exit the boat. The island is populated despite consisting largely of an active volcano. There was an ash cloud above the volcano and it was belching smoke. We could see the ash on the ground where the rains had washed it into puddles. There’s a city bus that runs a loop to a few stops around town. It was cash only (no IC card) unless you buy the one day pass for ¥500. Enter the bus at the back and pay as you exit. There are shops selling fruits and souvenirs - Sakurajima is known for its satsuma mandarins. There are some nice parks, the longest in japan foot bath and some nice hikes.

The resolute wind of the monks
in the two trains, I have another classic "Wind of the Wind",
"" Everyone may be a little fierce bird than the eagle, and according to The careful classification of biology, in addition to the scorpion (the owl type) in the raptor, the other raptors are yo!
Because "the wind of the monks", it also represents the spirit of the Japanese Bushido, the tenacity, strong, persistent spirit of men.
Walking all the way, on the way to Kagoshima, the sea appeared in front of you, the coastal roads jogged with you, and you were very happy, and you could see the Sakurajima volcano in the distance.
Kagoshima is located at the southernmost tip of Kyushu, ranging from the northern boundary of the county to the junction of the southern and Okinawa counties about 600 kilometers. The warm climate, the changing coastline stretches out its arms and holds the active volcano on the Kagoshima Bay, Sakuraji. Come to the outskirts of Kagoshima and walk along the road. Under a big tree, there is a simple wooden window under the tree. There are all kinds of vegetables on the window. The price of the dishes is hung on the top of each vegetable. There is a plastic in the lower right corner of the window. box. Not the same, I saw an aunt who passed by the battery car. She picked the vegetables she wanted and put the money in the box. The simple version of the vegetable vending machine is on the side of a country road, and the vegetable fields not far away are fruitful.

Senganen Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
In Senganen Garden of Kagoshima, you can admire Sakurajima. Kinkowan Park is known for gardens of view borrowing. Senganen Garden also goes viral for it is the shooting location of the full-length historical TV play series - Atsuhime. You have to have a seat in Starbucks because you can admire volcanoes and enjoy a cup of coffee at the same time. It seems you are in a secluded world. The surroundings near the mountain and by Sakurajima, so you can't help slowing down and enjoy yourself.
Xian Yan Yuan, also known as the Rock Garden, is a representative Japanese courtyard.
was built in Jiayong 5 years (1658), was the residence of Jin Qibin, the main island of Satsuma. Since the completion of the construction, the masters of all generations have repaired them. At the time of the 28th generation, there was a modern factory group, which is an important testimony of the Meiji Restoration.
Xianyanyuan draws on a lot of Chinese garden architecture skills in terms of construction style and art. Although the buildings in Xianyan Garden are mainly Japanese style, the most praised place is the Chinese garden. The traditional "borrowing scene" approach has made Sakurajima volcano her reliance, and Jinjiang Bay seems to be an extension of its pool spring, making this traditional garden full of pride, making the landscape in the park seem infinite, artificial and natural reconciliation People are amazing.
The ponds, bridges and stone lanterns in Xianyan Park are matched and orderly, achieving the effect of moving and changing landscapes. It has the beauty of Japanese gardens and is influenced by Chinese culture. It is the best witness to the convergence of Japanese and Chinese cultures.
The existing villa in the park was built in the 17th year of Meiji (1884) by the then lord, Shimadzu Loyalty. It is a college-style building.
The living room has a total of 13 rooms, covering an area of about 50,000 square meters. The architectural style of the academy is designed to blend in with the natural environment. Visitors can take a glimpse of the home of the former city owner.
The Xianyan Garden, which is worth visiting, is a villa courtyard built by the Shimadzu family. It is close to the city center, and I take a taxi for 170 yen from the JR Jr. station or the planetarium in the center of Kagoshima. I took a taxi to Asakusa-Tokyo Yamagata Department Store for 1,240 yen.
Tickets are divided into 1,000 yen for general visits and including visits to the Imperial Palace (formerly Shimadzu Villa) and tasting 1600 yen for matcha tea. You can buy a Chinese page on the ticket machine and use a credit card. If you have enough time, it is recommended to buy 1,600 yen. There is a round of visits to the Imperial Palace every 20 minutes. There are Japanese guides and Chinese page introductions. You can visit the living room, study room, bedroom, etc. of the former owner, and finally drink the matcha in the courtyard. Dessert (flying faucet).
After visiting the Royal Palace and the large courtyard outside, the Xianyan Garden, which is influenced by Chinese culture, has Feng Shui culture and garden culture. There are not many people to visit. You can watch the live volcano Sakurajima on the sea in the courtyard. A small volcano erupting every day, watching the volcanic ash clouds over the crater, is very interesting.

Finally, a Marriott affiliated hotel has arrived in Kyushu! Welcome to the "Sheraton Kagoshima" which opened on May 16th. As a Platinum member, I was able to enjoy a range of luxurious benefits, including room upgrades, lounge access, complimentary breakfast or a bottle of shochu or 1,000 points, and a 4:00 pm check-out time✨. The Sakura-jima view was even more breathtaking in person than in photos and the hot springs were truly exceptional! With rates starting at just ¥10,000 per night per person, this hotel offers great value for money, making me a repeat customer👍.

Kagoshima City Aquarium Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
The Kagoshima Aquarium completely displays the beautiful sea around Kagoshima and the world of flora and fauna living in the sea. It has become a new sightseeing spot. In the pavilion, Kyushus largest black tide sink passes through the lava tunnel, and the Kal of Kagoshima, which is home to subtropical and temperate flora and fauna, and the popular sea otters live. The sea otter sink can also see the mysterious animal Satsuma feather weaver found in Jinjiang Bay. Especially worth seeing is the Dolphin Pool, which is directly connected to the waters of Jinjiang Bay. The dolphins are free to enter and exit, showing people the way they are free to swim in the waterway.
There will always be some curiosity about the world under the sea. I like to see the jellyfish and I am eager to explore it in the dark blue. In Kagoshima, I am glad to meet again.
The underwater world of Kagoshima, although not as large as the SEA Aquarium, is still very beautiful.
Kagoshima Aquarium is located in Kagoshima City, Japan. The Kagoshima Aquarium opened in May 1997. It completely displays the beautiful sea around Kagoshima and the world of flora and fauna living in the sea. It has become a new sightseeing spot. Tickets: Adult (high school students or above): 1
Yakushima Island Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Hiking through the trail of Yakushima Island
Yakushima Island is about 60km south of Kagoshima city in Kyushu , Japan. It can be reached by ferry from Kagoshima, or by plane from Kagoshima, Fukuoka, or Osaka ( about one hour).
Yakushima gained UNESCO world heritage status in 1993 and is known for its natural beauty, including wildlife and cedar forests. Some of the cedars are over 1000 years old, with diameter of 7-8meters. A few animals are also unique to the island - including the Yaku Monkey and the Yaku deer. We were so lucky to have seen both of them at the end of our trekking.
To get to the main trail at Shiratani Unsuikyu, take the bus from the main port of Miyanoura. The fare costs 560 yen one way and only takes 25 minutes uphill. The buses do not run frequently, so renting a car may be a better option if you want to see more of the island within a short time (1-2 days).
It takes 3-5 hours to complete the trails at Shiratani, so it is best to start in the early morning. We arrived the island by plane at 11am, and barely made it to the 1pm bus. The last bus that returns to Miyanoura leaves at 4:10pm. So you will have about three hours for the hike.
We were lucky to have a cool and dry day, which helped us to complete the trail and see the cedar, moss forest , and the animals on this trip!

Yakushima
A very primitive place, the only drawback is inconvenient transportation. It's impossible to visit all the attractions on the island in one day. There are just too many sights on this small island. The most famous are several hiking trails. I took the Jomon Sugi and Shiratani Unsuikyo trails. The moss forest in Shiratani Unsuikyo is the location for the film Princess Mononoke. The experience is ordinary when you are there. If you go further into the forest to Taiko-iwa Rock, the view is better. The Jomon Sugi trail is 22km round trip, suitable for those who are very confident in their physical strength. Because the bus ends early, but hiking takes at least 10 hours, so I hired a guide at the time. But actually, there are paths in the forest, so you don't have to worry about getting lost in it. So people who walk fast can save the cost of hiring a guide.
If you want to recommend Japanese attractions, the first thing you think of is Yakushima. On the plane that flew to Japan, I watched Miyazakis ghost princess again. The scenery I saw on the island was very close to the movie.
The deepest impression is Jomon Pine walking. Although it was said that I had to go to Yakushima for a few years, but Jomons hiking was never planned, I dont know how to get up at three in the middle of the night, six in the mountains, and five in the evening. 40,000 steps - not too many photos (when you take pictures, think about other teams, you can only wait behind you). The cedar trees for thousands of years are really amazing. When you touch the trunk, you seem to have it. The power to walk again.
In the evening, walk freely on the streets of Yakushima. The boat is quietly docked at the port, the mountains are beautiful and the breeze is blowing, quiet and beautiful.
Yakushima is a very valuable World Heritage Site in Japan. In 1993, Yakushima and the Shirakami Mountain were listed on the World Heritage List. It is the first natural landscape in Japan to be included in the World Heritage, but not the entire island. It belongs to the World Heritage Site, but is located in the center of the Palace of Puyue and the Shenmu Forest District in the west (more than 1,000 years). The area of about 107.47 square kilometers is included in the World Heritage.
