Attractions in Kamakura

Kamakurakokomae Station is situated on the Enoshima Electric Railway (Enoden), its platform facing the ocean and offering especially beautiful views at dusk. Given that the railway crossing outside the station is one of the famous scenes from the anime "Slam Dunk", it is a popular destination for tourists who gather here in large numbers hoping to witness the classic scene in the anime.

The Shonan Coast stretches over a few dozen kilometers along the shoreline of Kanagawa Prefecture.Being close to the city, the rules at some of the beaches along the Shonan Coast can be fairly strict. Beaches along the coast can usually be reached in 5-20 minute walks from a nearby train station.

Dip your toes in the water after a temple tour or soak up the sun at Kamakura Seaside Park Yuigahama Area, a popular getaway from busy city areas.

Enoshima is a tied island which is connected to its mainland via a sandbar. There are several sightseeing spots on the island, including shrines, parks, an observatory and caves. From here visitors can also view Mount Fuji on a clear day. Several shrines on the island are collectively called the Enoshima Shrines. Visitors can go here to wish for wealth and good luck. Visitors who are anime and gaming fans should feel very at home in Enoshima. In addition to the close-up of Enoshima's vista seen in the anime "Slam Dunk," this is the original location of Lulu Island in the game "Autumn Memories." Enoshima is an important location in many anime.

The Meguro River is a river which flows into Tokyo Bay near the Tennozu Isle Station. The river banks are extensively landscaped and act as an urban green space for communities along its length. Every March and April, the flowering cherry blossoms lining the river resemble a corridor of flowers, contrasting beautifully with the river itself. As the petals fall, the water turns into a flowing pink stream. Visitors can also enjoy the spectacular sight of cherry blossoms at night. The air is fresh and the area quiet. There are various cafes, art shops, and boutiques where one can truly experience life among the locals.

Yokohama Minato Mirai 21 is located in the Japanese city of Yokohama, and its name represents the future dream of the 21st century as a neighborhood of Yokohama City. It was originally a shipbuilding base near the sea. Today, it not only has first-class hotels and amusement parks, but also cultural centers such as exhibition centers and art galleries. As Yokohama is close to Tokyo, it can form a convenient tourist route with Tokyo.

A famous tourist attraction in Hakone, Owaku-dani Valley is the remains of a volcanic crater formed over 3,000 years ago from a volcanic eruption. It is also a major source of hot springs in Hakone. The geothermal landscape proves to be a spectacular sight, with mountain rocks laying bare against the green trees of Hakone and spewing out hot steam from between their cracks. Visitors can overlook the remains of the crater that is shrouded in a white mist, from which it is also possible to see the beautiful scenery of Mount Fuji and the mountains of Hakone. You can also try the regional specialty of black eggs.

Chidorigafuchi Moat is a section of the old defensive moat at the Tokyo Imperal Palace in the city’s Chiyoda ward. Today, there is a lush green walkway offering truly stunning views of blooming cherry blossoms between late March and early April. In the evening, the trees are illuminated for romantic after-dark strolls and rowboat rides. Outside of peak bloom, the moat is still well worth a visit for the beautiful view. If you're exiting the East Gardens at the Imperial Palace, take a stroll around Chidorigafuchi. You won't regret it.

Lake Ashi (Ashinoko) is situated on the Western side of Hakone at the southern foothills of Mount Komagata. A volcanic lake formed over 4,000 years ago by volcanic activity, it is a popular tourist attraction in Hakone. The lake itself is set off against the backdrop of Mount Fuji, with the scenery changing with each season. Trails around the lake are surrounded by beautiful, green cedar trees, while a boat cruise on the lake is an essential pleasure for many visitors. The lake is home to many black bass and trout, and a large number of Japanese often come here to go boating, fishing, and swimming.
