I've seen people uploading photos on the great Buddha in Kamakura a long time before I finally had the chance to visit it. With its long history, it's really surprising how well-maintain it was. so I finally ventured into Kamakura see it with my own eyes. My first impression of it was Wow! It's really big! It looks quite sturdy, and of course it looks very good at its age. I didn't enter the Buddha, but just the look of it from the outside is quite impressive already. The shop in the temple sell goodies, cookies, snacks that features the Great Buddha too. Not to forget, all the good luck charms/Omamori you could get as souvenirs for friends and relatives. I'm not sure how many of the tourists who visited the place felt this way, but I felt extremely peaceful while I'm at the temple #givethanks #givethanks

The sea, the tram, and the temples are the impressions Kamakura left on me. During my three days in Tokyo, I picked the middle day to visit the nearby Kamakura, hoping to catch a glimpse of the famous Mount Fuji. Unfortunately, luck was not on my side, and the cloudy weather meant that Mount Fuji would probably be obscured by clouds. However, since I had already planned this, I might as well go on a cloudy day to see what unique experiences might await. 🚃Transportation: At Shinjuku Station, I bought a one-day pass for the Shinjuku to Fujisawa Station round trip, which also includes the Kamakura seaside tram. The price is only 1640 yen, which is very economical. It takes about an hour to reach Fujisawa Station, and after getting off and transferring, I arrived at Enoshima. Enoshima: A lively seaside island, where Hirokazu Koreeda's 'Our Little Sister' was filmed. There is a small temple at the top of the hill with a lot of incense burning, offering a panoramic view of the entire island and the bridge. Then I returned to the tram station and took the tram to Hase-dera, which was the stop I was most looking forward to on this trip. Hase-dera: The entrance ticket 🎫 is probably 300 yen, which is very cheap. The small Buddha statues inside the temple are very cute, as if entering a world of deities. I also happened to encounter the maple leaves turning red, adding even more Zen to the atmosphere. Afterward, I went to the landmark of Kamakura—the Great Buddha of Kamakura. 🎫The worship fee is 200 yen. The huge Buddha statue overlooks the visitors, creating a strong visual impact. The ginkgo forest behind the courtyard is also very picturesque. After coming out, I slowly strolled through the small town, walking on the tram tracks, walking by the sea, until I reached Shichirigahama, where I saw the sunset's Tyndall effect. Although I couldn't see Mount Fuji on a cloudy day, I saw people fishing by the sea and sat quietly for a long time. Finally, I went to the famous Kamakura High School Mae, took some photos of the green tram 'racing' by the sea, and then I also took the tram back to Tokyo. From the leisurely seaside town back to the bustling, fast-paced Tokyo.

#thingstodo Visited Kotoku-in, and the sheer size of the bronze Daibutsu was impressive! The Great Buddha is over 11 metres tall and weighs over 120 tons. Even with plenty of tourists there, it still felt very peaceful. We went inside the Daibutsu for a small fee, you can't stay long as it's very hot. A highlight of our day trip. I’ve been visited this place every year. And it will always be beautiful🫶🏻

Its nice Buddha and small surrounding area. I took the bus from the train station. You can go inside the Buddha for 50 yen, not a lot to see but worth the 50 yen. From descriptions I thought the Buddha would of been bigger, still big though. I must admit that I was a bit disappointed when seeing the size of Kotoku-in was, given that I had to pay for the admission ticket. There was nothing to see other than the buddha statue itself and the souvenir shop. But it was probably my first time seeing a buddha statue up close, though it was rather small comparing to other statues I have seen. They have a ery nice bathrooms. Worth a stop but probably not worth the trip just for this from Tokyo. #2024wish

It was sooo peaceful & beautiful place with natural beautiful as well as historic temples. kamakura temple is such a mesmerizing statue, we can enter inside the statue, i have never seen such statue. Kamakura Buddha Kōtoku-in Address: 4 Chome-2-28 Hase, Kamakura, Kanagawa 248-0016, Japan One of the must go shrines in Kamakura. The shrine has a huge bronze statue of Buddha in a seating mediation position. You will need to buy an entrance ticket to enter. There is a public bus stop right outside the shrine and it is very easy to get here. There are many souvenir shops outside the shrine too. You can even buy ice cream in the shape of the Buddha too. I am unclear of the symbolic meaning of Buddha here since they have replicated the designs into their ice cream. It is not meant to be an offence so please do not take it to heart if you are offended. After entering the shrine, it will take about 10 minutes of walking before you can see the huge bronze statue. Taiizan Kotokuin Shojosenji, or simple just Koutoku-in, is a Buddhist Temple in Kamakura, Kanagawa. It is most famous for the "Great Buddha" bronze statue monument on top of the hiking trail. What really amazed me is that, the Great Buddha was built during the 1200s, but it is still well-preserved until now. The hiking trail to the monument itself was also quite tiring, but fun! #wintergetaway
