Pontocho is one of the main dining areas of the city, with traditional restaurants with kamogawa river views ! Lovely atmosphere! Several options for all wallets! Near Gion Shijo street.
Pontocho is the traditional nightlife district in Kyoto. If you are lucky, then you might see a geisha tucked inside the bars or restaurants.
This is a lovely area of Kyoto for a 1-2 hours stroll in the late afternoon or early evening. The view of the river and its banks from the bridge is absolutely wonderful, and while most of the restaurants in Pontocho alley are tourist traps with ridiculously high prices and average food, the atmosphere alone is worth the visit.
Nice little street full of bars and restaurants. Also you sometimes see Geisha here.
