It is a Christian church called the Greek Orthodox Church or the Eastern Orthodox Church because it developed mainly in the eastern Mediterranean coast in the early days. In 1903, the cathedral was completed as a base for missionary work in western Japan of the Orthodox Church. It is also an important cultural property.
