Kyoto Station is the busiest transportation hub in Kyoto. The iconic Kyoto Tower, changing colors, points the way to people in a hurry. There is a large department store Isetan above Kyoto Station. But the department store closed very early, leaving get off work at seven o'clock. Maybe you want to enjoy the nightlife, so it’s more appropriate to go shopping before eating. It’s perfect to have a soju after shopping, haha
Good attractions, simple, surrounding shopping malls catering, Ctrip offers a lot of discounts, I recommend you to come when you have time
Kyoto is a good alternative base to Osaka, although it is slightly easier to take day trips from Osaka due to its train connections. I stayed in Kyoto when I had a long weekend to explore the city and to get to Kyoto Tower which stands on the north side of Kyoto Station.
We quite enjoyed our trip up Kyoto Tower, though after Tokyo Skytree earlier in the week, it didn''t seem quite as impressive. As other reviewers have said, it has an abundance of binoculars which are free and you can spend as much or as little time as you like taking in the views of Kyoto suburbs,
The landmark to keep your bearings by the Kyoto Station. Pretty cool looking lit up at night
I use it as a landmark when biking & checking the sites around Kyoto.
