Well, loved it maybe an overstatement! This station brings back bittersweet memories of nine years of traveling to boarding school in Leicestershire at first as an eight year old in 1957. On the other hand, I also returned home through it at end of term! Plenty of atmosphere, personal excitement, and history.
Great train station! This was actually my first time going to a train station, as I was headed to Paris for a day. It felt safe, looked clean, easy to get to and get through to your gate. There are some places to grab food inside, so you can eat while waiting or take food with you on the train. I felt like I was off to Hogwarts :)
Instead of staying in London for my trip, I elected to stay in St Albans with a friend. I took the train into St Pancras Station everyday I was in London and found it to be a fantastic train station. Very modern and easy to use. The trains ran on time and I didn't regret staying so far out at all.
This is from my experience in 2009.There was free wifi, which unfortunately I didn't get to use, because of the wonderful battery life on my laptop, but my friend did, so yay!it's actually quite a nice station. customs and security was quick and easy, there are shopping locations outside of us going through security and customs for Eurostar, as well as convenience store inside with the usual airport type fare, quick food, junk food and drinks. plus the typical junky touristy souvenirs, books and magazine. everyone was very nice.the only thing that sucked was something with Eurostar and not necessarily the station. Eurostar had to change their schedules due to the fire in the chunnel a bit back and had just recently gotten back on schedule. I wish someone in Paris would have told us that our train back from London was going to be an hour later. We wouldn't have rushed as much to get through security.
As mentioned before, beautiful and Eurostar station, very comfortable way to travel, and very large, shopping restaurants, open to very late.
A very crowded station most of the time, but quite efficient in handling the mass of travellers. Check-in and security for a ride to the continent always go rather smoothly, but remember that after security there is hardly any food & drink to get. But you have ample possibilities in the station before the security, with a large amount of shops and restaurants. Also very good public transport (underground) connections to the rest of London.
