Madrid Plaza de la Villa, which was built in the 16th century and is the office of the city government, was named after it. Until the city moved to West Belles Plaza in 2008, a museum was set up here. The House and Tower of Luhanes, a Mudhal-style building built in the 15th century, is now the Royal College of Moral Science and Politics. The Marquis Alvaro statue stands in the square and the Cisneros House.
Madrid´s City Hall is located in one of the most well-known squares of the capital, the Plaza de la Villa. This location, which is between the Puerta del Sol and the Plaza de Oriente, is made up of some of the most historical houses in the city, including the Casa de los Lujanes (House of the Lujanes), the Casa de Cisneros (The Cisneros House) and the front of the Consistorio (or ruling Council).

Municipal Square is a small area, but it is one of the most important squares in Madrid, also recognized as the most beautiful square in Madrid. In the center of the square stands the statue of King Philippe II's Marine General Bassan. The Luhanesta Tower on the east side of the square is the oldest civil building in Madrid. There is a narrow passageway between the Sisnero House on the south side of the square and the Madrid City Hall on the West side.
