The Half Dome literally translates as a "half dome" and is a hemispherical giant granite mountain. It is a symbol of Yosemite National Park in Yosemite, California, and is the source of The North Face brand logo. Half Dome is nearly 3,000 meters above sea level. It is the highest peak in Yosemite, nearly 1000 meters above the surrounding peaks, so when the sunset falls to the horizon and the earth falls into the shadows, the smooth wall of Half Dome is alone. The setting sun shines and is very spectacular. The northwestern wall of the Half Dome is a vertical surface with a length of about 600 meters and a slope of 93% (the first in North America). It is one of the most challenging rock climbing sites in the world.
