I went there for a Sunday brunch with my school friends. This is a Venezuelan specialty restaurant. Being a Venezuelan I have high standards when it comes to Venezuelan food. This one is not bad, but it didn&#39;t get to my standard. Most of us ordered the typical Venezuelan breakfast: scrambled eggs with onion and tomato, white fresh cheese, black beans, and the unique arepa (cornbread patties). It was not bad, but it was not amazing either. When I go out I expect food to be better from what I can do at home, but in this case it wasn&#39;t. The decoration is super cute and cozy, with country colorful style furniture. Regardless to the fact that it is not the most amazing Venezuelan restaurant, I would recommend this place if you are looking for a nice Sunday brunch, in a cozy place with good service.

Frequented this eatery on the recommendation of a Colombian acquaintance. I found the room to be inviting and well appointed. The lunch time crowd was waning at the time of my visit which made the experience more enjoyable. The wait staff was well versed in the menu items and easily made suggestions. Based on the suggestions, we ordered dishes which had a sampling of some of their typical Colombian fare. The size of the platters was more than what I expected. The meats were flavorful, the other offerings were likewise well presented and authentic. The service was attentive and courteous. It is a good middle of the road restaurant good for any occasion.

It seemed to take way too long for drinks to arrive given that the place was not very crowded. The dish I ordered was not what I was served. To same time, I just ate the meal the server brought. It was okay but I guess I&#39;m not a fan of this type of cooking.

I wanted to write to complain about the terrible service I have received the past three visits. It is very disappointing because I love monserrate and have been going here to eat for almost 3 years and it has always been great but lately it has decreased terribly! I used to recommend it but now I do not. The first time it went terrible was when I went with my co corkers, who I referred to go there, and it took half an hour before anyone came to take out order, we told a guy that passed that we were still waiting to be served and he said with an attitude that he was the manager and not a server. He still didnt help us with our order or served us any drinks. The whole service was terrible and it took 2 hours when we only had one hour or lunch. The second time I went in, we ordered in advanced so it wouldnt take so long, and when we got there they said that we can not order ahead, that we had to take it with us because it was already packed, the server had a terrible attitude after we said we ordered ahead and took forever to bill us and give us the food (Pre ordered ahead 40 minutes before). The third time, I went in with family members still having hope for monserrate, everything was going ok, I ordered a colombian style beef, When we get the order mine was completely different, I pointed it out to the server and he said we are out of the beef sauce and walked away. The order I got was a palomilla not bistec, they forgot my salad as well. I was confused because it didnt even look like the bistec and the server never told me that they didnt have sauce before he gave me the food so when we saw another server pass by we stopped to ask him why was I getting this food because I didnt order that and no one came to ask if I wanted something else since they didnt have the sauce and he bursted out and said did I take your order? no, I am not your server and walked away. I hope this helps things change but I will not go to monserrate again thanks to those 3 experiences!
