Nanzhuang which is located in the northeast of Miaoli County, was a prosperous coal mine in the early days. Nanzhuang Old Street have attractions that are concentrated in Zhongzheng Road near the Yongchang Palace and the adjacent alleys. The strong Hakka style is the special feature here. The attractions include the quaint old streets of Nanzhuang, rich cultural colors, ancient trails, characteristic B&Bs and the cafes. These are the driving forces to attract tourists. The local residents are mainly Hakka families and have a strong nostalgic flavor of Hakka.

Historical Architecture
Shengxing Railway Station is a lovely station for Taiwanese railway fans to visit. It has existed for more than 90 years. It was built in the 29th year of the Guangxu reign (1903) of Qing Dynasity. There is a monument on the platform and the elevation is about 402.326 meters, which is the high point of Taiwan's north-south railway. The whole building is made of wood. It does not use nails. It is a Japanese-style tiger-toothed wooden building. The tiger-toothed design is said to have a blessing effect.
