Trip Moments

sarah on the road
I like to ride the train, like the flowing scenery outside the window. Say goodbye to the last race too, look forward to the next stop. Make the journey more slowly to reach a sense of the process. Traveling alone when studying, the train is also the beginning of the end. Long-distance trains to sit a lot, from Shanghai to Lhasa 47 hours train ride three times, also take 72 hours of cross-border train to Tehran from Ankara, Turkey. This time, my college roommate and I spent six days, 136 hours by train from Beijing to Moscow, all the way north to Mongolia, across Siberia, across the Eurasian continent. Perhaps many people do not understand, why not choose to fly, and the choice of this more time-consuming, more expensive trains, the key can not take a bath. Mongolia can not see Prairie Autumn on the mainline to fly, do not see in the Siberian forest silhouetted against the golden and blue to the extreme of Lake Baikal, Siberia desolate look at less than the setting sun. Feel through from Asia to Europe; do not think there is no cell phone signal is so easy to get close to strangers. Do not think after a long road, and finally to Moscow joy. Of course, the pain is there six days can not take a bath, bad food six days, six days bumpy six days of cell phone signal is weak. Perhaps, in this life you will have such an experience, I have fame or fortune. Although it is not beautiful scenery, stunning enough, if only lay sleeping, all that they have missed. But another important reason is to have time to think alone and static. Perhaps too hypocritical to say too theatrical, but the fast pace of city life, there are so few days of wasted time is a luxury.

Saint Petersburg
Spanning nearly two continents and 11 time zones, Russia is country full of wonder and surprise. The Russian Far East and Siberia are synonymous with remoteness, while St. Petersburg’s elegance evokes memories of long lost Czars. Moscow’s Kremlin and St. Basil’s Cathedral are quintessential symbols of this enormous country.
