Nagoya Castle Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Must visit place in Nagoya - Nagoya Castle
I went to Nagoya Castle during the blooming of sakura and it was so beautiful. However the main tower is closed for renovation. Despite that, there are so many other things to explore around the castle.
The high walls and the buildings structure of the castle are well preserved and maintained. There are also beautiful parks and gardens within the compound. Overall a must visit when you are in Nagoya.
The admission fee was 500 yen for one adult during my visit in April 2023.
Special Heritage Site - Nagoya castle lightup
During the annual Japan sakura season - visit this special heritage site.
Nagoya castle usually closes by 5pm but extends till 8pm during the precious sakura season.
You can catch more than 1,000 sakura trees here and also visit this place with a castle filled with gold paintings and artwork.
recommended duration would be 1-2 hours here for those into tradition and history
Nagoya Castle
Entrance fee for adult is ¥500, you can get ¥100 discount if you show them Shoryudo Nagoya Subway & Bus 1-Day Pass.
They happen to have ninja and samurai show near the entrance, funny and entertaining.
The castle is currently under preservation and repairing work, therefore we cannot enter, from the outside you can see huge cracks along the wall at foundation of the castle.
You can however enter and visit the new building showcasing variety of rooms that the lord and officials use for their meetings back in the days.

Legoland Japan is located In Nagoya as a Lego fans I will strongly recommend to go and the Mini-land here is very nice .
Getting to Legoland is pretty simple. From Nagoya Station, the city’s primary rail hub, it just a 24-minute ride on the Aonami Line to Kinjofuto Station, near the Ise Bay shoreline. Once off the train, Legoland is a 10-minute stroll away.

Chubu Electric Power MIRAI TOWER Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Cool Water Features in Nagoya
Went to Mirai Tower in Nagoya and there were lots of refreshing manmade ponds and fountains to see, I also saw a pet Meerkat!
This tower looks like a small Eiffel Tower. It is good to see it lit at night although the lights could be more colorful. A landmark in Nagoya, it is near Oasis 21 and located within a park. The tower is impressive not only because of its height but also due to its location. This wasn't part of my itinerary but it's a few blocks away from my hotel. Seems the lights from the tower is inviting so even after a long day of walking and touring around couldn't resist making a turn and see the place. There are dining shops in the area where you can enjoy local food and beers. It's a nice place to hang out and have a chill night.

Atsuta Jingu Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Nagoya's most sacred Shrine ⛩
#wecreate
This place, shine, temple, garden, space out of our time line is located in Nagoya, a not so visited city of Japan compared with others, but it does have some of the most impressive places that I saw during my last visit.
The Atsura Jingu was built around 1900 years ago, and currently is the most sacred place in the city. Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi sword being one of imperial Japan religia makes this shrine it's home.
After a walk by its gardens we had some traditional Eel just a few minutes walking from it. Very special and unique place to be.

Address: 🗺
〒456-8585; 1-1-1 Jingu, Atsuta-Ward, Nagoya-City, Aichi Prefecture, Japan
Storing the sacred sword of the imperial regalia, this Shinto shrine is well worth a visit even though there are few English signs. Arriving at Jingu Nishi station follow the sign marked 300 m to the west entrance. After 2-3 minutes turn left & follow the crowds along the tree lined walk-way to the main shrine. After offering prayers, walk to the left & around to the back of the shrine, continuing the path until reaching steps by a stream. There enjoy flicking water onto the central rock with the wooden ladles while making a wish! The path eventually leads back to the entrance. I was impressed by the atmosphere. There is a hand washing area for tourists to wash there hands before started to pray. The day I visited was coincident with a wedding ceremony(I think). A paid museum is located inside as well. Be sure the opening hours when planning a visit.

After catching up with the cherry blossoms of the day, the fatigue of the journey almost made us pass the hot building of the Atsuta Shrine, one of the three major shrines in Japan. The Atsuta Shrine is built in the style of the gods and has a history of 1900 years. The main shrine of the shrine is the hot god, one of the highest-ranking shrines in Japan, with more than 2,000 pieces of antiques, literature and art, covering an area of nearly 200,000 square meters. Various large-scale events are often held here, with traditional Japanese weddings being the most common. The hot field festival on June 5th is the hottest time of the Atsuta Shrine, and you can enjoy the lantern event and the fireworks show.
Don't miss Atsuta Shrine when you travel to Nagoya!
🖼 Atsuta Shrine, located in Nagoya, is a shrine with a history of nearly nineteen hundred years.
❤ Atsuta Shrine is beloved by travelers because it houses the legendary sword 'Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi', which is one of the three sacred treasures of Japan that the deity 'Amaterasu Omikami' bestowed, including the mirror, jewel, and sword. It is also the place where the Sengoku period warlord Oda Nobunaga established the 'Nobunaga Wall', although only parts of the ruins remain now.
🌟 The 'Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi' sword is a mysterious existence, never displayed, but it still attracts many enthusiasts. Instead, a large number of samurai swords are available for viewing. The Atsuta Shrine Treasure Museum houses nearly 6,000 artifacts, including important cultural properties and items of national significance in Japan.
✅ Over seventy ceremonies and festivals are held here throughout the year, and during the first few days of the New Year, the place is packed with people coming to experience the ancient culture of Japan.
📍Location: 1-1-1 Jingu, Atsuta Ward, Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture.
💰Ticket Information: Free.
🕙Opening Hours: Open all day. The Treasure Museum is open from 9:00 to 16:30.
🚉Transportation: Take the subway Meitetsu Line, get off at Jingu Nishi, and it's just a few minutes' walk.

Nagoya Morning Service with free breakfast
#wecreate
Hanagoyomi
Abania Chikara-machi 1F, 4-72, Chikara-machi, Higashi-ku, Nagoya-shi
Do you know that in Nagoya, there is a unique "Morning Service" where you can get free breakfast with the purchase of a drink at a number of cafes? Most Nagoya breakfast Morning Service comes with a free toast and it's usually available from opening to around 11am.
Over at Hanagoyomi, you get to choose your morning service from free toast, or onigiri or porridge. In addition, they will also provide free mini salad, Chawanmushi and tea to go along with your meal. It's totally a superb deal and I enjoyed every bit of my onigiri and others.

Everyone’s Daily Bread
You will find this bakery shop at the Nagoya station. Stopping by at the station on my way back to Yokohama after a weekend getaway, I couldn’t resist but stop by when I saw these delectable mouthwatering baked goods on the display window. I had no choice but to stop by and grab a few pieces before I board the train. I chose the one that I have not seen yet or tried back home. One of the reasons that attracted me to this shop was the price, it was way cheaper than the local shop at home but also they all taste well. I regret not buying more.
One Cozy Place to Relax
Nagoya Silk Tree Hotel is very accessible, only about 5 minutes walk from Fushimi Station. Convenience stores, bars, and restaurants are just a few meters away.
It’s one clean and cozy business hotel. They offer buffet breakfast and several amenities available at the lobby. If you are a coffee person, help yourself, there’s an unlimited supply at the lobby area. There’s also a laundry area and massage services for your comfort. I had a comfortable stay. It’s one lovely hotel. 😍
