We were buying tickets for metro North train at Grand Central Station and when we got out we were hungry for Chinese. A friend recommended Evergreen on 38. The name does not sound Chinese to us but we decided to go. It is 8 minute (0.4 mile) easy walk from Grand Central Station in Midtown. The first impression me and my wife got upon entering is that there were 10 tables and all of them were Chinese!!. All talking Chinese not in China Town area. This is Midtown! We were the only "western looking couple there" I said. If we have so many Chinese persons eating here it must be good. We were not disappointed. Great food, dumplings, spare ribs and great Singapore Noodles. Good service, fast and tasty.
The food was more than average but the service was so terrible!! My colleague and I went to this restaurant for lunch today and we expected to finish the meal within an hour. But by the time we got served with our main dish, it was almost an hour later!! Plus we were not served the free pot of tea, the other tables had it ! Just because we forgot to ask for the tea! Will I go back? Big no! There are other Chinese restaurants in NYC that have better food and provide good service.
