The restaurant: Unassuming, at first, you are then taken in by textures and details that delight the eye before you even consider food. Rugged wood tables mingle with hammered copper, flashes of white keep it from being heavy. It's a great take on urban-rustic style, And one of the best details? The fireplace overflowing with white, melted wax! The service: One word, excellent. From greeting to suggestions to service the ambiance was easy-going, un-rushed (but not slow) and attentive. The food: Again, excellent. We shared starters that were tantalizing and unique, and then dug in to our respective mains, all of which were superb. "Gnudi," a take on gnoochi, was rich without being cloying and perfect for the still cool, grey weather we had. It deserves to mention, separately, that I had one of the best, most authentic Irish Coffees I've had, anywhere. Perfectly balanced and delicious on that cool day. The result: Added to the list for another visit. And with the subway nearby, easy to reach on the west side.
