About Ningqiang

Ningqiang is located in southwest Shaanxi Province and is under the administration of Hanzhong City. It is the major gateway and passage between China's large northwest and southwest regions. Ningqiang has a long history and rich culture and abounds in tourist destinations. Local natural attractions include Hanshuiyuan (“Han Water Spring”) Forest Park, Tian (“Heavenly”) Lake, and Majia (“Ma Family”) Mountain. Special folk cultural attractions include the ancient architecture of Qingmuchuan, Bashan folk songs, and traditional Nuo dance and performance.

Picturesque Qingmuchuan Ancient Town has a long history. The Qiang and Han people intermingled and lived peaceably together here. The area gradually prospered during the Ming dynasty, and most of the residences here were built during the Ming and Qing dynasties (1368-1912). A river cuts through the ancient town, and the people here live a carefree and leisurely life. The town’s Wei Family Mansion was built during the Republican Era (1912-1949), and the Qu, Wei, Zhao, and Tu ancestral halls were built during the Ming and Qing dynasties.

Tangjiahe National Nature Reserve is located in Qingchuan County in the Sichuan Basin, with Gansu to the north. The mountains throughout the reserve stretch off into the distance as far as the eye can see. Large swathes of old-growth forest are home to giant pandas, snub-nosed monkeys, takins, Chinese pheasants and other nationally protected wildlife. There are also many precious protected plants in the reserve including handkerchief trees and wild azaleas. Scattered throughout the reserve are various stone stairways that visitors can climb to discover the remains of ancient roads once used for trade.

Huangyang River includes Bodhi Cliff, Seabed Stone City, Hongchen Canyon, and Gaokeng Waterfalls. Leng Dam features natural grassland.
