Photos of Ningxiang Miyin Scenic Area

Miyin Temple (Miyin Scenic Spot) in Ningxiang County, Changsha City, is located in the Weishan Scenic Area, about 70 kilometers west of Ningxiang County. Thousand-handed and thousand-eyed Avalokitesvara statue" is the holy land of the Buddha's country as the main Buddha. The Miyin Temple was founded in 807 AD, and the name of the temple is taken from the "Secret Heart Seal" of Zen Buddhism. The founder of the mountain was Zen Master Lingyou, an eminent monk in the Tang Dynasty. Later, he was helped by Pei Xiu from the country and asked Tang Xuanzong to give his name and write the "Miyin Temple". Miyin Temple has produced many eminent monks, and 5 of the 8 presidents of the Buddhist Association since the founding of New China came from Miyin Temple, enjoying a high status in the Buddhist world. Miyin Temple's mountain gate couplet "Fayu comes to Hengyue, Zongfeng Qiyangshan" is a revealing of the origin of Miyin Temple's legal school. There are 12,988 Buddha statues on the inner wall of the main hall of the Ten Thousand Buddhas, one of which is made of pure gold, which is a wonder in Buddhist temples. In the thousand-handed thousand-eyed Guanyin Cultural Park in the temple, there is a thousand-handed thousand-eyed Guanyin statue about 100 meters high. The Avalokitesvara icon can only be admired from the outside, and cannot be entered inside. The three sides of the Avalokitesvara icon are thirty-three Avalokitesvara statues, and there are four heavenly kings below the front, which are vividly carved. The whole scenic area is mainly shaped by the Buddhist holy tree "Bodhi Tree", and five platforms are set up on both sides of the central axis: Dazhi Terrace, Dawan Terrace, Daxing Terrace, Dashi Terrace, and Dashan Terrace. The five platforms are respectively placed with Manjushri Bodhisattva, Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, Samantabhadra Bodhisattva, Dashizhi Bodhisattva, Medicine King Bodhisattva, symbolizing the five Buddhas in the five directions, and attaining Buddhahood under the Bodhi tree, fully adhering to the saying of "one flower and five leaves" in the origin of Zen.
