The coolest cafe in Seto Sea - Seabridge
In our recent driving trip in Japan, we drove from Kobe to Shikoku, passing through the Seto Inland Sea. As the area is known for its scenic beauty, we reserved one whole day to drive slowly to enjoy the different islands and the views.
For lunch , we made a little detour to Shimanami Beach in Innoshima. The beach was not very long, but there was a lighthouse and camping field next to the beach. As it was a Sunday, we saw several tents set up on the beach, and the campers were enjoying their coffee and snacks.
There were a couple of one story buildings facing the beach, but only one was serving lunch. We walked in and was immediately attracted by the interior design with warm wooden beams against concrete walls. Sunlight came through the ceiling and reflected onto the multiple glass balls hanging in the center of the cafe. There were 6-8 tables/ sofa set sparingly inside and we took one of the larger table near the window,m. There were only 4 lunch sets available - fried chicken, curry, and two cake sets, and priced between 1500-2000 yen.
While we waited for our food, we couldn’t help but walked around the large cafe, taking photos at almost every corner. The staff also informed us that shoes must be taken off when we walk onto the two sides of the cafe where the tables are set. Slippers and bags were provided for us to carry our shoes.
The cafe was so well designed, chic, and spacious. It is even better than many of the cafes in Tokyo and Osaka.
We spent more than an hour in the cafe, and only wished we could come back for a second time.
Last by not least, there is a huge white dinosaur standing in the backyard of the cafe- to add to the fun of this lunch break. What a memorable experience it was and definitely highly recommending this place to anyone visiting Seto Sea.

Healing small town
Would you long for a city because of a movie? When I first watched the Japanese movie "The Seaside Motel", I became deeply interested in the city of Onomichi in Japan. Introduction to Onomichi:
[Little Kyoto of the Seto Inland Sea]: Onomichi is located in Hiroshima Prefecture in southeastern Japan, facing the Seto Inland Sea: known as [Little Kyoto of the Seto Inland Sea] by the Japanese people.
2 [Mountain City and Cat City]: A port city built on a mountain, where you can ride a bike or take a boat to tour around the island. The picturesque alleys are healing and artistic. 3 [City of Movies]: It has been the location for more than 40 movies, and friends who love movies are more familiar with Yasujirō Ozu's "Tokyo Story".
Classic Japanese-style house.
This is a classic Japanese house with a 100-year history, where you can also experience Onomichi culture! Walking into the house is like walking into a forest in a movie, as it is located on a long mountain. The scenery through the old nostalgic glass windows is retro, and the furniture and accessories are very attractive, full of artistic atmosphere and perfect for filming.
The landlord is very friendly and talkative, and can chat about many local daily life matters. It's worth taking some time to quietly experience a small rural life in Japan's countryside. The location is also very convenient, recommended for those who want to enjoy the town of Onomichi and have some alone time!
After a quiet cup of coffee in the courtyard, take a walk to Onomichi Station! Enjoy the shopping street at Onomichi Station.

🌼 The Itsukushima Shrine of Japan
#cherryblossom2024
🤗🪷 Amidst the enchanting vacation, I embarked on a thrilling journey to the vibrant city of Japan. The arrival of spring had turned the area into a paradise and visiting Itsukushima Shrine left us feeling rejuvenated. Surrounded by the luxurious landscapes of this tranquil sanctuary, we were captivated by the stunning views that unfolded before us at every twist and turn, leaving us with memories that would endure a lifetime.
Nestled on the petite island of Miyajima, adjacent to the illustrious Hiroshima city, lies the resplendent Itsukushima Shrine. This architectural marvel, recognized as a World Heritage site, boasts a rich history that traces back to the 12th century. To indulge in the most breathtaking vista, ascend to the vicinity encompassing the Tahoto pagoda. From this vantage point, you shall be bestowed with a mesmerizing spectacle of the pagoda adorned with delicate cherry blossoms, harmoniously juxtaposed against the backdrop of the iconic scarlet torii gate, gracefully emerging from the crystalline waters of the Seto Inland Sea.
The lavish and captivating sanctuary has imprinted a lasting memory in the innermost depths of my consciousness. The sheer delight of revisiting and relishing every moment in this unmatched haven is truly incomparable.🌸✨️🩷💮#mytravelhacks #historicallandmarks #localguides #familytrip
Hiroshima, Japan
One of my favorite place in Japan definitely.
It’s very convento go from Osaka and has lots of memories.
Itukushima Jinja is absolutely beautiful. You can see low tide and high tide.
It’s better to check the time before going. Sunset must be beautiful as well.
MIYAJIMA ISLAND
Miyajima Island is just a few minutes boat ride from Hiroshima mainland.Greeted by deers as you disembark, this beautiful island offers so much.
From its world heritage site(inscribed in 1996)the Itsukushima shrine(Itsukushima translates to the island of worship) and its famous O-Torii gates(was unfortunate it was under renovations at the time)to its beautiful views from the top of mount Misen.
These adds to the many reasons why i love Hiroshima and wish to explore more in 2024

The staff are so warm and incredibly helpful. They went above and beyond to make sure our stay was as good as it could possibly be. Even before arriving, the reservations team was so helpful in booking us a fishing trip and helping us work out the best ferry times to get there. We were greeted at the port upon arrival which was so nice and then given a delicious welcome drink and snack. The room was beautiful and the whole hotel was a design masterpiece. There was everything you could want in the room including a delightful Cyprus bath and a complimentary mini bar. The food was a culinary masterpiece- so beautifully presented and absolutely delicious! And plentiful too.
Senkoji Park Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Japan's niche destination [Cat City]
The choice was made to the end of the road because there is a famous cat trail. Come to this cat-civilized city, be sure to check it out. The cat trail is in the thousand Below the Temple of Light, you can take the cable car to the mountain and look at the panoramic view of the Onomichi. When the weather is good, you can see the small islands in the world's most beautiful bicycle lanes (up to 4), and walk to the Chikaji Temple in 15 minutes from Onomichi Station. If you go down the mountain, you will see the signboard when you go to the middle of the mountain. Before going to the brain, you can make up a lot of things here, but you didn't expect the cat to do so. . . enthusiasm. . . Just stepping on the first step, flying in the distance to a screaming cat, I want to take a photo, he said nothing to jump on my leg, and then. . . I didn't dare to move, and when I got to my legs, I couldn't help but hold him down before I got out. In addition to these safe, wild little cats on the cat trail, there are many cafs, cat museums and art galleries along the way. Here, most stores are forbidden to take pictures, the store is left on the table, enjoy the small notes of leisure time, lazy to stay for a long time, teasing the cat to see the sea view, eating handmade toast is really a place for this one. Urban poisoning.
Senko-ji and Sakura inBloom

View from above
To best appreciate the views of Senkoji Park, you need to climb to the top of the mountain of the same name, where the Senko-ji Temple is located. If you are not ready to climb, you can use the cable car or funicular, which will quickly take you to the top.
During the ascent of 361 meters, amazing views await you. Senkoji Park is beautiful at any time of the year, but especially in spring, when 10,000 sakura trees bloom.

Sit in the French cafe Petit Anon with magnificent views and delicious food
How to get there
You can get there by train, and then walk or take a taxi.
Take the Shinkansen high-speed train from Hiroshima Station to Fukuyama Station, and then transfer to the JR Sanyo line to Onomichi. A pleasant walk from there to the park will take 20 minutes.
Literary Road
One of the most popular attractions of Senkoji is the Literary Trail. There are stones with the names of famous poets on it, including Fumiko Hayashi, Matsuo Basho and Naoi Shiga.
Pilgrimage of film fans
Nobuhiko Obayashi, director of 40 films, was born in Onomichi in 1938. Native places appear in many of his films. Especially devoted fans arrange pilgrimages to temples and shrines, which are shown in the paintings of Obayashi.
Shimanami Kaido Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Don't go to Tokyo, these smaller cities in Japan are more interesting!
I've been living in Japan for almost a year without realizing it. In addition to the well-known Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto, I've also visited quite a few smaller cities. Here are some of my personal favorite small cities for those who are struggling to decide where to go (in no particular order)
⭕ Takamatsu
Takamatsu is the capital of Kagawa Prefecture in Shikoku, and it was the first place I visited on my trip to Japan 10 years ago. It has a famous nickname as the hometown of udon noodles, so you can enjoy various kinds of udon here. Also, the triennial 'Setouchi Triennale' art festival is an event not to be missed, and from Takamatsu Port, it's very convenient to travel to treasure islands such as Shodoshima, Naoshima, and Teshima.
⭕ Kochi
It could be said to be the most low-key capital city in the Shikoku region. This is the hometown of the anti-shogunate warrior Sakamoto Ryoma. During my half-day city walk in Kochi, I truly felt the city's tranquil atmosphere. Additionally, I particularly like Kochi's trams, which have super cute liveries.
⭕ Tokushima
Tokushima is also a place I visited on my first trip to Japan. The Awa Dance is a local specialty here, and you must see it. Also, the Iya Valley is a great place to escape the summer heat.
⭕ Onomichi
A small city facing Shikoku across the sea from Honshu, it has both mountains and sea, and cycling is very popular here. Cycling from Onomichi to Shikoku's 'Shimanami Kaido' is known as Japan's most beautiful cycling route. Ramen and oysters are local specialties here. Oh, and Yasujiro Ozu's famous work 'Tokyo Story' was also filmed in Onomichi.
⭕ Kanazawa
The largest city in the Hokuriku region of Japan. It is also a city with a 'high gold content.' Ninety-nine percent of Japan's gold leaf is produced here, so you can buy various gold leaf products, including food and drinks containing gold leaf. Additionally, one of Japan's three great gardens, Kenrokuen, is also located in Kanazawa.
⭕ Saga
Saga in Kyushu is often rated as one of the cities in Japan with the least presence. But after going to Saga, I fell in love with it. Saga's ramen and Wagyu beef are really delicious, and the key is that they are much cheaper than in big cities. A double portion of Saga beef for just over 5000 yen is incredibly tempting.
⭕ Hakodate
I've been to Hakodate twice, once in autumn and once in winter. Compared to Sapporo, Hakodate is much more interesting. From Mount Hakodate, you can see the million-dollar night view, and Goryokaku Park is a treasure with beautiful scenery all year round.
When it comes to traveling in Japan, most of them go to Hokkaido, Tokyo, Osaka, Nara and other places. In fact, many niche destinations in Japan are very worth visiting, such as Ehime County on Shikoku Island.
The sea bream stuffed rice that I ate just now is the special delicacy here. The whole sea bream and rice are boiled together. Before serving the rice, all the fishbone/bones 🦴 will be picked out, and then mixed with rice evenly, and then served with side dishes and flavors Eat it together with Zengtang, I have eaten a lot of stuffy rice, I have to say it is really delicious.
In addition, Ehime Prefecture is also rich in citrus, like a city surrounded by 🍊 [打泪笑笑] can see all kinds of food related to 🍊, including mascots are all related to citrus [呲牙]
There is also Japan's very famous Dogo Onsen♨ which is the prototype of the oil house in "Spirited Away" and one of the oldest hot springs in Japan.
To Ehime County, you can also go to:
JR Shimonada Station: An unmanned station, facing the Seto Inland Sea, enjoying the tranquility of being alone.
Shimanami Kaido Cycling Path: Wear light clothes, ride with the sea breeze, and enjoy the joy of outdoor sports.
Matsuyama Castle Castle Tower: See the most romantic cherry blossoms in spring🌸.
Imabari: Buy a towel of the highest quality in Japan.
Meijinji Station: The filming location of "Tokyo Love Story".
Perhaps Ehime Prefecture is not well-known among the counties in Japan, but in fact, many famous film and television dramas, food, items... all come from here. If you have the opportunity to go to Japan, you can really go and see it. It will definitely surprise you of.
