## Ayutthaya was once the capital of Thailand and was once one of the largest cities in the world. The Buddha statues here are world famous. The Buddha statue shrouded under the yellow silk sits on the rosette. The Buddha's eyes stare at the Chao Phraya River and the weather-beaten land underneath, surrounded by a tranquility after a historical wash. However, those headless Buddha statues are silent, as if they are telling stories they have experienced. Dacheng Reclining Buddha Temple, also known as Rocaya Suta Temple, is located in the northwest corner of the inner city. A river separates it from other temples in the Ayutthaya Historical Park. In the open air of the temple lies a 42-meter-long reclining Buddha statue. The tree holds the Buddha's head. It is the most well-known spectacle of Dacheng. It is in the Mahathat Temple and is the most ancient temple in Ayutthaya. A huge Buddha's head fell and was held tightly and gently by the roots of the millennium ancient banyan tree.
