Savory Journeys
a day trip on the Ancient Ruins of Ayutthaya
it was blazing hot that the sun’s heat will certainly prick your skins. But seeing these ancient ruins satisfies my history buff heart❤️
these temples and their story certainly fascinates me, the endless question of how can they built these things without the help of modern technology. the works of these artisan craftsmen is simply wonderful.
for the Ayutthaya day trip, make sure to bring umbrella, cap, sunglasses and sun block (lol which we didn’t bring any😂)

Beauty of Ayutthaya historical Park office
The historic city of Ayutthaya is the old capital of Siam (nowadays Thailand), and was built in the 14th century. It was the second capital of the country.
Nowadays, you can visit the Ayutthaya historical park, which is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The ruins of the old city are quite well preserved. It is possible to visit Ayutthaya as a day trip from Bangkok, or stay for one night while travelling there. Now Ayutthaya is an ordinary provincial city but with a historic trump card in hand. Here stands a wealth of partially restored temples, ruins and Buddha statues from the abandoned royal city.
Some of the temples are among Thailand's most famous, and it's also here where you'll find the iconic Buddha head.

Solo travel
🌷The places I went alone include: Seoul, Chiang Mai, Bali, not many, but they are all classic tourist cities. From the beginning of worry, to the middle of some - the most exciting part of solo travel should be in complete freedom and complete unknown. Accepting these, the journey always has wonderful surprises beyond expectations.
No matter where you go, safety is the most important issue. Even though I love traveling alone, I am always troubled by this issue before every trip.
My idea is that classic travel destinations, especially those that have been developed for a long time, have relatively mature facilities, with direct flights, large ride-hailing apps, or relay services that can be booked on platforms like Ctrip. It is relatively convenient and safe for solo travelers.
🌷Transportation: Classic travel cities are mostly directly accessible by plane, and airport transportation is relatively convenient. Big cities have subways or airport buses, and Chiang Mai and Bali can also be accessed by taxi apps. After getting on the car, send the itinerary to parents or friends, and also inform them when getting off. Although some places may actually be more expensive to use taxi apps, I call this obtaining the driver's real-name authentication information.
For daily transportation, I prioritize subway or direct buses. If neither is available or not direct, I will basically take a taxi. In places where motorcycles are available, I tend to choose motorcycles personally because they are not enclosed environments. However, in terms of traffic safety, motorcycles are definitely walking traffic bombs. If there are pedestrians, I will also prioritize choosing a car.
🌷Accommodation: hotels in city center or scenic areas. For example, stay in Gangnam District in Seoul, Old City in Chiang Mai, Siam in Bangkok, and Kuta in Bali. Almost no activities are arranged at night, and if there are any, they will be dining and shopping near the city center, and will not go to places with few people and relatively dark.
🌷Eating: If you want to go to a restaurant you crave for alone, don't be afraid to ask for a table for one. In my experience, there aren't really that many restaurants that require a minimum of two people. If you can't finish all the food you want to try, it's a matter of mindset. I usually choose the top two dishes I want to try and see how much they serve. If it's a lot, I'll just stick to those two. If it's not enough, I'll add other dishes I want to try. If it's really good, I'll make time to go back to the restaurant later in my trip. Personally, I don't think it's necessary to go to so many restaurants just for the sake of checking in. My goal is to try delicious local food in big cities. Whether it's from one restaurant or several doesn't matter to me. When I was in Bali, I went to the same restaurant for dinner two days in a row and ordered different dishes each time. The waiter took beautiful photos for me each time, and the experience itself was very enjoyable.

The capital of the Thai Ayutthaya Dynasty, with over 600 years of palace ruins and more than 200 preserved ancient pagodas.
Ayutthaya, with its ancient and dreamy name, was once the capital of the prosperous Ayutthaya Kingdom in Thailand for over 600 years, serving as the political and economic center of the longest-lasting dynasty in Thai history. Despite centuries of wind and rain erosion and war destruction, the ruins of this ancient city have been preserved to this day. Known as the "Ancient Rome of Thailand" and comparable to Xi'an in China and Bagan in Myanmar, Ayutthaya is home to numerous palace, temple, and pagoda ruins that continue the legacy of the Ayutthaya Kingdom.
Located north of the capital city of Bangkok, Dachengfu was once the most glorious capital city in Thai history, but now it is rarely visited by tourists, and it is full of unfamiliarity with this fallen royal capital. Upon entering Dachengfu, the signs of Ayutthaya can be seen everywhere, and the glorious history of the Dacheng Dynasty is still engraved in every corner of the city. In 1350, King Uthong established the Ayutthaya Dynasty here, later annexing Sukhothai, and was known as the Dacheng Dynasty, which lasted for 417 years before being invaded and destroyed by Myanmar.
With the changes of history, the capital of Thailand moved southward, and Ayutthaya lost its glorious status, becoming a small city in the north of Bangkok, named Ayutthaya Province. However, history has left Ayutthaya with a rich cultural heritage of architecture, including the Ayutthaya Historical Park standing in the city center, the millennium-old Wat Mahathat, the cliff-top Wat Chaiwatthanaram, the Wat Phra Ram, and the ancient Buddhist pagodas that occasionally appear in the center of the city's roads, all telling the extraordinary history of Ayutthaya.
The Mahathat Temple, as a landmark of the ancient city ruins, stands in the center of the city. The temple was built during the Sukhothai period, and the main tower of Mahathat is a typical Sukhothai-style Buddhist stupa with a lotus-shaped spire. It is built entirely of red clay and resembles a lotus bud waiting to bloom, standing in the center of the ancient city for more than 700 years.
In the ancient city ruins area, you can still see the broken walls of the ancient city walls, and the square foundations of the brick-paved ground can still reveal the architectural layout of the ancient city palace and temple. The intact ancient city wall protects the remains of the large city for more than 700 years. Walking through it, the ancient charm and glory of the Great City Dynasty still shine.
Transportation: Bangkok to Ayutthaya train costs 3 baht.
Ticket: Scenic spot ticket 10 yuan, all-inclusive ticket 50 yuan.
Recommended attractions: Mahathat Temple, Historical Park, Bang Pa-In Summer Palace, Ayutthaya Temple, Wat Chaiwatthanaram, and Wat Phra Si Sanphet.

Wat Mahathat Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
One-day trip to Ayutthaya ~ serving as a guide for relatives who come from China.
* . 🚀 . I went to Ayutthaya after a long time and I have to thank my Chinese relatives who searched for tourist attractions and took me there within that night. They said, "I want to come here (here refers to all the temples in Ayutthaya)." So, we had to change our plans abruptly. At first, we were going to visit the temples around Ratchaburi , but then we separated from other relatives and went on our own. We took our relatives to visit the old city instead (亲人 qīnrén means relatives). Please pray for my little sister, lol. 5555555
♡ We traveled by private car from home (van) and it was an Oneday tour! It's not an illegal tour, lol. We even had a guide with us. 555555555 (just kidding, this was a private trip with family and we didn't receive any payment, so it doesn't count as income)
♡ The weather was so hot and humid when we arrived. It was raining heavily before we got there, but the rain stopped when we arrived. Then it turned into a scorching heat. However, our relatives were so determined and didn't care about the heat. They just kept walking and walking. We had to give up 😭. After we finished walking, we sat down and enjoyed some delicious durian (the durian was brought from home and just harvested from the orchard). But it was already afternoon by the time we finished walking. The trip was over!
🥑 Actually, we only went to visit the Mahathat temple. 555555 Because we didn't know if other relatives were Buddhist or not. Our relatives told us that they didn't worship the Buddha in the afternoon, so we stopped there. Then we went to Window shopping elsewhere.
* We left Ratchaburi at 8 am and arrived in Ayutthaya after 3 hours. We visited the temple, had lunch, went back to Bangkok, checked into the hotel, went shopping, and then watched the "Ladyboy Show (人妖表演 Rényāo biǎoyǎn)." Finally, we ended the day by going for a walk, drinking milk tea, having dinner, and returning to the hotel. It was a great day! ꈍ◡ꈍ

Prang View Cafe, Ayutthaya
If you are tired of walking around the trail, there are several cafes across from Wat Mahathat and Wat Ratchaburana. Today we choosed one of the popular restaurant Prang View Cafe. Oh my! They served really good foods and drinks.
在遣跡走倦了,在Wat Mahathat 和 Wat Ratchaburana 的對面就有好幾間 cafe。 最後我們選了人氣餐廳 Prang View Cafe。 果然沒令人失望。

This place is amazing. You could spend hours looking through the ruins imagining what they would have been like originally.
There's also another entire section of temples across the road, behind where everyone else goes at the main tourist area, which is in fact more intact, and it's only a two minute walk to the next block, where there are no tourists at all.
This place is truly an amazing temple complex and it covers a very large area. It's located right next to one of the main streets of town, so easy to get a drink, meal or tuk-tuk nearby also. Entry to the main park is 10 baht.
As part of the Ayutthaya Historical Park, it is highly recommended to add this place to your list of places to visit in Thailand, and there's another eight or nine temple complexes within spitting distance! You could literally spend a week looking at them all.
It is only an hour and twenty minutes from Bangkok by taxi and expect to pay around 2,000 baht☺️
If you find a good English-speaking taxi driver, they'll even give you a guided tour and get you around town.

The history of
Wat Yai Chai Mongkhon is a famous Buddhist temple located in Ayutthaya, Thailand. It is also known as Wat Chao Phraya Thai, and its full name is Wat Yai Chai Mongkhon Worawihan. The temple is known for its magnificent pagoda, which is one of the largest in Ayutthaya and is visible from far away.
The history of Wat Yai Chai Mongkhon dates back to the 14th century, during the reign of King U-Thong. At that time, the area where the temple is located was a jungle. The king wanted to establish a new city, and he ordered the construction of the temple to mark the city's northern entrance. The temple was built to house a Buddha image, which the king had ordered to be cast.
Over the years, the temple underwent several renovations and expansions, with each subsequent king of Ayutthaya adding to its splendor. In the 16th century, King Naresuan the Great added a large chedi (pagoda) to the temple, which is the most notable feature of the temple today. The chedi is about 62 meters tall and has a diameter of about 36 meters at its base. It is surrounded by smaller chedis, each containing a Buddha image.
The temple was also used as a site for royal ceremonies, and several kings of Ayutthaya were cremated at the temple. During the Burmese invasion of Ayutthaya in the 18th century, the temple was badly damaged. It fell into disrepair until the 1950s when it was restored by the Fine Arts Department of Thailand.
Today, Wat Yai Chai Mongkhon is a popular tourist destination, attracting visitors from all over the world. The temple is known for its beautiful architecture and its peaceful atmosphere. Visitors can climb up the chedi to enjoy a panoramic view of the surrounding area. The temple also houses several important Buddha images, including a reclining Buddha and a standing Buddha.
In addition to its religious and historical significance, Wat Yai Chai Mongkhon is also known for its connection to the Thai martial art of Muay Thai. Legend has it that King Naresuan the Great used the temple grounds to train his soldiers in the art of Muay Thai. Today, there is a statue of King Naresuan the Great at the temple, depicting him in a pose that is typical of Muay Thai fighters.

Ayutthaya is an old capital city of Thailand since 1893 to 2310. After Myanmar destroyed the city Thai people moves the capital to Thonburi or Siam or Bangkok Nowadays.
I went to Hua Lam Pohng train station to buy a ticket and spent one day trip there which is the easy way to travel. Renting bicycle is the great idea for going around and watch an old temples and learn history. If you prefer a Tuk Tuk tour there are also affordable. You can make a deal with driver about the price and where you want to go. A good stop for a night before you can take a train further to the north as well.
