The National Museum of Nepal is located not far from the south of Swayambhuna Temple. It houses a historical pavilion and a Buddhist pavilion. It is a good place to learn about Nepalese history and culture and appreciate Buddhist art. The museum was founded in 1928 and was originally named Chayousik Khana, which literally means "the stone house that stores weapons and ammunition."
