If you love drinking tea as much as I do, and want to learn more about local tea culture, April is a great month to visit Hangzhou. We paid a visit to the Longjing Tea Fields, which makes for a great day tour out of the city center of Hangzhou.
The village itself was only a 5-10 minute walk from the Imperial Library, where local vendors could be seen sitting outdoors with their metal pans drying freshly picked green tea. The smell emitting these pans and local shops was unbelievable – a delicate and sweet fragrance that reminded us of everything matcha we had ever eaten.
The ridge of the hills themselves are said to represent that of the dragon which the area takes its name from, extending from head to tail and curling around the plantation we were in!
N.B. If travelling to Hangzhou during a weekend, be sure to allow some extra travel time to get to Longjing Village! On a good day, this trip is usually around 30-40 minutes by taxi, or an hour by bus. Arriving on a Sunday though, around 11am, we ended up being stuck in traffic for over 1.5 hours while trying to get to Longjing Village in a taxi (due to the area around the West Lake being highly congested).

A perfect place to hike and see a beautifully neat and traditional Chinese village in the mountains.
Hangzhou Longjing, located in Fenghuangling, also known as "Longjing". Since the time of the three countries, it is the place to pray for rain. When the Northern Song Dynasty, Longjing Temple monks recognized the strange stone, the charm Xiaoshuang, so they got the name Fenghuangling. Su Yu and the defense have made good, and have visited Longjing many times. Unfortunately, Longjing's Song Dynasty poetry inscriptions have disappeared. Qianlong Emperor You love Longjing's garden scenery, Yu Ti Longjing eight scenes, Fu poetry dozens of times.
Longjing tea fields from a narrow perspective, from the perspective of the slopes of Longjing Village, West Lake Scenic Area, Hangzhou City, can be directly reached from Longjing Road. These tea fields include 18 imperial tea trees, which are the real birthplace of Longjing tea in West Lake, Hangzhou.
Lion Peak, Longjing, Lingyin, Wuyun Mountain, Tiger Run, Meijiawu area of land is fertile, surrounded by mountains overlap, lush forests, and the terrain is high and low in the north and south, which can block the cold current in the north and the warm current in the south.
Longjing Tea Field is the origin of Shifeng Longjing. The villagers here are very enthusiastic. You can also drink tea and chat without buying tea. The tea mountain is outside the village. It is really good to climb the tea mountain and look down.
