The 55 Window Palace was built in 1427 AD during the period of King Yaksha Malla of the Mala Dynasty. It is famous for its 55 windows on the front of the Golden Gate and the Palace. 55 Window Palace has many exquisite wood carvings. The Golden Gate is the door of the 55 window palace, the world famous Golden gate. The door was not very big, but it was brilliant, with many beautiful carvings on the lintel and both sides. Above the gate are two famous figures in Hindu mythology. One is Kali, the Hindu goddess of destruction, and the other is Garuda, a golden-winged bird in Hindu mythology. The Golden Gate was built by King Ranjit Malla of the Mala Dynasty and entered into baths and other palaces from the Golden Gate. In front of the palace is the pillar of King Bupatindra Malla.
