One of Thailand's important cultural heritages is beautiful, quiet and numerous. The ancient city of Chiang Mai was built in 1296. It is a quadrangular style. It is protected by city walls and moats. It is the Royal Palace site of the ancient kingdom of Chiang Mai Lan Natai Dynasty. Today, only the brick walls and five gates at the four corners of the inner city are retained, and the moat clearly delineates the scope of the ancient city. Vehicles flow continuously in the ancient city, and the famous temples in the ancient city, such as Qidilong Temple, Pasing Temple, Qingman Temple (the oldest Buddhist temple), are free to visit. The old city is not big. Walking or bicycling is recommended.
