A jewel in Phuket’s old town, Phuket means beaches, nightclubs, bars, massages and luxury resorts for many travelers. The other side of Phuket is its rich history and local life. We wanted to feel the other side of it this time. Adjacent to the famous Blue Elephant Restaurant is an elegant Chinese Portuguese residence called Chinpracha House built in 1903 by Hu Ma Xiang, the son of immigrants from Fujian, China, who moved to Phuket in the mid-19th century. The old house has many traditionally furnished rooms showing many photos of the owner from different career periods. There is also a lovely central botanical garden with a fish pond, which breathes cool air through the house and is comfortable even on the hottest days. We also saw a few couples taking traditional wedding photos there, young girls mostly dressed in traditional clothes, very local characteristics. I have to say that our luck is really good, and finally met the beautiful Khun Daeng. She is the great-granddaughter of the original owner of Chinpracha House, she still lives upstairs. I want to communicate with her in Chinese, but unfortunately, she is not very good at Chinese, but fortunately we are all good at English. The movie "Heaven and Earth" was once shot, so there are related surroundings for sale in the souvenir store outside. It is highly recommended to spend time with Chaya, a guide on Phuket Heritage Trail, who is passionate and knowledgeable about her hometown of Phuket and can better show you the local characteristics and the history and culture contained. Tips: 1. Visit fee: 200 baht per person. 2. There are many artifacts of hundreds of years old that can be photographed but please do not touch them easily.

    4/5Excellent

Interesting, but in bad shape. This house is an opportunity to see inside one of Old Phuket Town''s mansions. The house is in a very run down state. It''s beautiful original facade shoes terrible wear and tear, and has an ugly shed built over the right hand side of the facade. The visitor may only see the ground floor, which is furnished, but also shows signs of a desperate need of repair. The garden and the upstairs are not open. It is down a long driveway next door to the beautiful Phra Phithak Chinpracha Mansion (Blue Elephant). This was the only interior of an historic Old Phuket Town mansion that I was able to see, so it was worth the 150 baht. See it before it falls down!!

Baan Chinpracha is an old house since the reign of King Rama V. It is a house that indicates the mining of the past of Phuket people.

The house is beautiful and quaint, hard to find. Anyone who likes chic style must arrange it.
