Clifford Tower, a stone tower that brings people to remember, is one of the few remaining relics of York Castle, located above the hill. The tower is reached by narrow spiral staircases, from which you can see a panoramic view of York, and inside it is a reduced model of the old York castle. The tower, with a unique beauty, attracts many visitors. Clifford Tower is symmetrical with four leaf shapes, and this castle building is unique in the UK. In 1190, a violent riot occurred in Clifford Tower, where some Christian merchants tried to destroy the Jewish community in order to pay their debts to Jewish bankers, and 150 Jews who survived the disaster fled to the original site of Clifford Tower and were forced to commit suicide.
