The Atocha train station in Delhi is the largest in Madrid, Spain. The station is only a few metres away from the Real Jard & 7; n Bot & _; Nico in Atocha. Opposite the station is Plaza del Emperador Carlos V. The station is decorated with plants and flowers, adopt natural decoration, and there is a big square in the station. The station also has two subway stations, Atocha and Atocha Renfe. Madrid Atocha Railway Station has commuter trains, intercity trains, regional trains starting in southern Spain and AVE high-speed trains starting in Barcelona, Zaragoza, Sevilla and Valencia. AVE high-speed trains are operated by Renfe, the Spanish state-owned railway company. The station is an important hub for Spanish intercity trains and AVE trains. The important routes are : Madrid-Valencia, Madrid-Barcelona and Madrid-Seville. Madrid Atocha Railway Station has many facilities such as passenger inquiry counter, toilet, public telephone booth, restaurant and luggage depository. Buses also connect to Madrid Airport from Atocha Railway Station in Madrid. Since its completion, the station had undergone a major renovation during the opening of the AVE high-speed train to Seville in 1992. The renovation transformed it into a unique station in Europe. The lobby was built into a tropical rainforest garden by renowned architect Rafael & Monio. He used a large number of glass, metal and shiny stones to construct a greenhouse, day and night operation of the sprinkler system, carefully moistening the whole row of tropical plants. Passengers waiting here can sit on benches by the lotus pond and enjoy the green landscape leisurely so as to wait for the arrival of the train. The terrorist bombing of March 11, 2004, has become a scar in its history.
