The office itself is a monument, but it also manages many of Hong Kong's monuments. Its predecessor is the Kowloon Ying Tong School, which was built in 1900. It is not a long time to say, but it is enough to be a monument in Hong Kong. Since its establishment, the office has assessed and protected more than 1400 historic buildings in Hong Kong, including traditional Chinese ancestral halls and British dwellings. It has a long way to go.
