Zhou Enlai's former residence is located in Juma Lane in the northwest corner of Huai Lou, Huai'an Town, Jiangsu Province. There are two houses connected East and west, totaling 32 rooms. It is a green brick and wood structure bungalow built between Qingxianfeng and Guangxu years. It is about two miles away from Zhou Enlai Memorial Hall and belongs to the tourist attraction of Zhou Enlai's hometown. On March 5, 1898, Zhou Enlai, the founding premier of the People's Republic of China, was born in a house on the east side of the courtyard, where he spent 12 Spring and Autumn Periods. He left Huaian in the spring of 1910 and went to study with his uncle in Northeast China. He never came back after his death on January 8, 1976. His stepmother Chen's family and his grandmother Jiang Jiang's family lived in Butterfly Hall. The plaque on the gate of Zhou Enlai's former residence was inscribed by Comrade Deng Xiaoping. In 2002, a new "Deng Yingchao Memorial Park" was built on the north side of Zhou Enlai's former residence.
