Cai Shaoyu, the owner of Gusongyuan, managed foreign goods business in Shanghai in his early years, and returned home to build houses and land after he developed. From the "bird's-eye view of Gusongyuan" we can see that the ancient pine garden is small and delicate, with deep twists and turns. It is a typical residential garden in Qing Dynasty. The main hall of Gusongyuan is an imitation building with lifting beams. It is the place where the host receives VIPs and conducts red-and-white happy events. Its architectural form is like the wings of an ancient official hat, commonly known as the Yarn Hat Hall. There are many kinds of opera stories carved on the fengmu, which are vivid and exquisite. Gusongyuan building hall is tall, exquisite and luxurious, because there are 16 upside-down flower baskets carved at the bottom of the eaves and 16 phoenixes carved on the top of the Xuanliang. It is called "flower baskets building" or "phoenix building". Now the lobby and side rooms have become the Museum of Wang Lipeng, a Lujia painter and calligrapher. There are also famous modern Su embroidery artists, senior arts and crafts artists, national intangible heritage (Su embroidery) representative inheritors, "Su embroidery queen" Yao Jianping Su embroidery Museum of Art. If the luxurious building hall of the ancient pine garden is compared to a dressed beauty, then the elegant backyard of the ancient pine garden is like a plain-faced woman, real and pleasant. If not, it seems that the carved screen in the lobby gives the ancient pine garden a more traditional aesthetic realm.
