Jinge Temple (pseudonym - "Golden Pavilion]; English - "Golden Pavilion), officially known as Luyuan Temple (pseudonym - "Golden Pavilion]), is located in the Northern District of Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture, Japan. It is a temple of the Linji Sect and the most representative garden of the Shiraku Age in Japan. The name of Jinge Temple derives from the Fa Name of the famous third generation Shogun of the Kiriki family in the period of Shiraku in Japan. Because the outer walls of the core building "Sheriya Hall" in the temple are all decorated with gold foil, it is also called "Jinge Temple". Jinge Temple was built in 1397 (Ming Hongwu 30 years, Japan Yingyong 4 years). It was listed as a national treasure by the Japanese government before World War II. In July 1950, the only remaining Hall of the temple was completely destroyed by arson (i.e. the Jinge Temple fire incident). Today, the hall was rebuilt in 1955 as it was. In 1987, all the gold foil decorations on the outer walls of the hall were completely renewed as they are now. In December 1994, Luyuan Monastery was designated by UNESCO as an important historical building of the world cultural heritage as part of the "cultural wealth of the ancient capital Kyoto".

I went Kinkaku-ji from Osaka using public transportation and it was quite a long journey.. it’s worth going if you got enough time to travel. overall in my experience it was wonderful, the nature around the temple was beautiful, I would definitely go again :)

The Kinkakuji or Golden Pavillon is remarkably beautiful in simplicity. The Pavillon and its garden are a masterpiece of Beauty and Serenity. On sunny days, he Pavillon shines and reflects itself in its surrounding pond, for the pleasure of your contemplation and the whole scenery makes you usher a "whoa" of admiration.

Must see when in Kyoto. Try and go during a sunny day in order to capture the reflection off the water as well as the brightness of the gold. Not a stroller friendly site as the ground is all pebble and there are stairs to navigate upon exiting. Entirely a “one-way” walking route so make sure you take all the pictures u can at specific areas before moving forward. Very crowded with a lot of tourists but u can still manage to capture lasting memories as long as you’re patient. Plenty of souvenirs & soft serve ice cream places in and around the temple.

Most people are just taking photos and hearing the explanations of the tourist guides who may have stories not necessary true. So do your homework forehand. Beautiful garden. Please study the history of this gardens before attending, you will have a better understanding of the purpose of the garden, the Kinkakuji, and other constructions.
