Walking from the Sao Paulo Museum, across a large square where local residents serve as skateboarding grounds is the Brazilian Independence Monument. The monument is majestic, with sculptures and reliefs on all sides, and on the day we visited, local religious organizations were engaged in commemorative activities, putting out banners and wearing grand festive dresses. The Brazilian Independence Monument is about tens of meters high, and the base is a huge heart shape, about a few thousand square meters in size, and the monument means a huge sword, inserted into the heart of Sao Paulo.
