Visited here on a whim and I’m glad I did. Easily one of the best museums I’ve ever been to. It’s a museum of museums, showcasing what a turn of the century museum looked like by simply never updating its look. As others have said, it’s a shame that you are unable to visit the balconies due to fire safety restrictions, but what they have got on show is simply amazing. Something like this would never be able to be constructed now days with restrictions on animal hunting and transport of specimens (as things rightly should be), so a collection like this is truely one of a kind and will be harder and harder to find the likes of as time goes on. Would love to visit again after they’ve finished the proposed updates to the building to see if it still has the same ambience/to see the rest of the amazing collection. Can’t be missed.
