Niagara means "Raytheon Water" in Indian, and the Indians believe that the roar of the waterfall is the voice of Raytheon. Before actually seeing the waterfall, the sound of a constant thunder was heard, so the Indians called it "Onguiaahra" (later Niagara), meaning "huge mine".
