This scenic area includes many channels and ponds, a tower and a huge fortified gates. This area is a part of an ancient city of Suzhou, which is called an Asian Venice. There is a little exposition of a real gondola presented by the government of Venice to the city of Suzhou. Its pleasant parks and patios would definitely make your day walking around, watching gold fishes in a pond, taking a rest under the trees.

Panmen is located in Panmen Scenic Area in the southwest corner of the ancient city of Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province, beside the ancient canal. Suzhou City was originally the capital of Wu State built by Wu Wang Helu and Wu Zixu in the Spring and Autumn Period. Panmen is one of the eight doors of Wumen. It was called Panmen in ancient times. It also got its present name because of its "half land and half water, and bending along the river". The existing city gate was built in Yuan Dynasty, and Wengcheng was built by Zhang Shicheng after that. It has the famous Ruiguang Ancient Pagoda. The only existing city gate in parallel with land and water in China is Wumen Ancient Bridge, which is famous for its three scenes at home and abroad. Ruiguang Pagoda is a pavilion-style ancient pagoda with 8 sides and 7 levels of brick and wood structure. Its height is 53.57 meters. It is said that Sun Quan built it for the priest in the Three Kingdoms Period. It was called "the priest tower" at that time. On the side of Panmen, Wumen Bridge is built on the Grand Canal of Beijing and Hangzhou. It is made of Jinshan granite. Its length is 63 meters, its net span is 16 meters and its height is nearly 10 meters. It is the largest single-span arch bridge in Gusu. There is the saying "Look at the Great Wall in the north and Panmen in the South". Panmen has a traditional classical garden "one pool, three mountains" pattern of central courtyard and ancient architecture, water village customs, mountain pavilions, lakes, mountains and shadows as a whole, appears robust, relaxed, atmospheric, so that Panmen scenic spot not only lost the historical sense of the ancient vicissitudes of Suzhou, but also has a bold, bold and lively modern atmosphere, so that tourists feel the profound cultural and historical details of Suzhou Wu at leisure time.
