It's difficult to sing the praises of how "fun" a tour of a government building is, but I have to admit I enjoyed my tour of the Austrian Parliament. Perhaps it was the personable and wisecracking tour guide, or the fact that I was already steeping in the historical and political aspects of the country's capital, but I was intrigued with everything I learned on this tour - like the fact that the Austrians modeled their parliament building (and government itself) after the Greeks. The great hall is dominated by thirteen towering columns in classic Greek style, symbolizing and mirroring their system of democracy. This is also a perfect activity for hot afternoons when you need to escape the Viennese sun.
