Kaohsiung Port is a seaport located in southern Taiwan, adjacent to Kaohsiung City, and the largest port in southern China. It is a large comprehensive port with railways and expressways as means of freight collection and distribution. There are 100,000 tons of ore and sand wharf, coal wharf, oil wharf, natural gas wharf and container wharf in the port. There are more than 80 berths, more than 18 kilometers long shoreline and 25 groups of mooring buoys. The annual throughput of the port is about 560 million tons. The port has a large dry dock of one million tons and two single point mooring facilities of 250,000 tons. Kaohsiung Port is one of the major container ports in the world. In 1989, container throughput reached 3.383 million standard boxes, ranking fourth in the world.
