Hornau National Historic Park is located about 50 kilometers south of Kona International Airport (KOA), a sanctuary in ancient Hawaii. Contravention-breaking prisoners or defeated soldiers who were declared dead fled to the site, baptized by priests, and are said to be exonerated of death.
