Formerly known as the Shenzhen Exhibition Hall, it was built in 1976, and after the establishment of the Shenzhen Special Zone, it was officially renamed the Shenzhen Art Museum in 1987. Shenzhen Art Museum has held exhibitions of works by Chinese contemporary Chinese artists Wu Changshuo, Huang Binhong, Lin Fengmian, Jiang Zhaohe, Fu Baoshi, Zhang Daqian, Xu Beihong and others. In 1985, the Shenzhen Art Festival was held. In recent years, the Shenzhen Art Museum has held many exhibitions on contemporary Chinese art and has collected many paintings by contemporary Chinese artists. The current curator is Wang Xiaoming

The predecessor is the Shenzhen Exhibition Hall, which was built in 1976 and renamed in 1987. It is located in the Shenzhen Reservoir Scenic Area and has a beautiful environment.
