Sophia Square is located on the South Bank of the beautiful Songhua River. The Square is composed of Saint Sophia Church, New Jewish Hall and Architectural Art Square. Saint & Sophia Church is the most dazzling presence in the square and the most famous landmark in Harbin. It is a typical Byzantine architecture, with its murals, chandeliers, bell towers, domes and choirs all showing rich and colorful human landscape and unique artistic features. The new synagogue was built in 1918. It is the largest existing Synagogue in China. There are regular Jewish exhibitions in it.
