Suzhou City God Temple Review

Suzhou Chenghuang Temple has a history of 600 years. It was built on the site of the ancient house of Zhouyu in Dongwu, the three countries. In the 23rd year of the Ming Dynasty, Changzhou County and Wuxian Chenghuang Temple were newly built on both sides of the Chenghuang Temple in the city, forming the scale of the two county Chenghuang Temples located together. The scale is very grand, it is rare in the country, after many disasters, the 600-year-old Chenghuang Temple is already unrecognized, more than 20,000 flat buildings only the hall and the Yimen. Although this is the case, the city temple in Suzhou is very long in history, recorded in Lu "zhi", which can be seen that the history here can be traced back to the Tang Dynasty. Jingde Road starts from Renmin Road in the east and goes west to the Golden Gate. The double-storey mountain-style eaves of Suzhou Chenghuang Temple, the mountain gate of black tiles and yellow walls. The Chenghuang Temple has been rebuilt many times during the years of Ming Dynasty, Jiajing, Qing Shunzhi, Kangxi and Qianlong. By the 23rd year of the Ming Dynasty Wanli (1595 AD), the pattern of the temples in one government and two counties was formed.

A temple for the work-character hall is the only early Ming Dynasty temple building in Suzhou; a monument for the "Sujun City River three horizontal and four straight maps" monument; a tree for ginkgo tree, more than 600 years.
