Zurich City Hall was built in 1694-1698. It is a Renaissance-style building. It is located on Riverside Road of Limat River, near Limat River and City Hall Bridge. It is one of the most beautiful buildings in Zurich. Before 1798, it was the government residence of the Republic of Zurich. After 1803, it belonged to Zurich and had state and municipal assemblies. The City Hall, the Church of Zurich, the Church of Notre Dame and the Church of St. Peter are not far apart on both sides of the Limat River.
