very beautiful place, used to be a scene in a Hollywood movie, strange beauty, both palm trees and mountain views.
Have visited this beautiful canyon location several times. There is an admission fee but it’s reasonable and well worth the price. We’re a retired couple but still active and love to walk. There are a number of trails throughout the canyon that offer a number of choices for every level (easy, moderate or challenging). We’ve hiked the easy trails in both Murray Canyon and The Trading Post. Both areas have ample parking and offer trails with beautiful desert and canyon vistas. We especially liked Victor trail at Trading Post. It takes you along the upper lip of Palm Canyon providing some of the best views and photographs. Lots of choices for short (2 mile) hikes or longer.
Some of the most beautiful scenery, however, the desert trails are 114 degrees warmer and the rangers are not joking when they say you need to hoard water. If you don’t do this, it can be very dangerous. That is to say, it’s crazy beauty, be sure to do it! Loud praise for Ranger Ralph, who helped me with a series of dilemmas in our one-on-one exchanges!
