San Francisco is a famous city in northern California on America's west coast. San Francisco gets its Chinese name "the old gold mountain" from the 19th-Century gold rush. Many people from all over the world flooded California in the hopes of striking gold. It is a open-minded, avant-garde city with an atmosphere of freedom. It is very diverse in all aspects of culture, belief and food that make it the embodiment American "melting pot” culture. There are beautiful landmark sites such as the Golden Gate Bridge and winding Lombard Street. Ride the antique-style trolleys up and down the city's steep streets. Go to Pier 39 at bustling Fisherman's Wharf to see the sea lions at play and then head to the eccentric Haight-Ashbury district to catch the spirit of the 1967 Summer of Love. S1967

San Francisco is a truly unique American city and one of the world's great vacation spots. Explore its hills, ride the cable cars that climb them, and eat some seafood at Fisherman's Wharf. Also spend some time exploring Marin County on the other side of the Golden Gate Bridge, including the picturesque town of Sausalito. The giant redwoods of Muir Woods National Monument are only 30 minutes away and also well worth a side trip.
Dreams do come true!
#triplocal I live in hotels because finding a place is hard in San Francisco as a 21 y/o just starting out. every day is like a vacation in the city I was born and raised #415
SFMoMA was a fanatic museum. The renovations over the last several years really improved the gallery space. I particularly enjoyed the audio guide tour with several famous artists curating narrative experiences. Budget the better part of a day to visit here.
Was a bummer that Alamo Square being renovated when we went, but it was still neat to see the famous Painted Ladies. As many an American from my general could probably attest, we grew up seeing these on TV with “Full House.” #sanfrancisco
Downtown #sanfrancisco is not always the most famous place to visit, but there’s a fair bit of good architecture to be found. Do yourself a favor and just wander around some of the streets in search of a good cafe. You never know what you might find.
