Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Assumption

This cathedral is fantastic. It is already special from the outside but it should be in to see what is truly beautiful. Everything looks like a huge concrete structure, it only makes orderly transformations on a few pillars, which is actually very subtle. Surrounded by natural light passing through the glass walls, this feels like a special place. More interestingly, it was built in a way different from the traditional cathedral. Oh, once you get in, look back at the glass inlay above the door (you probably didn't notice it from the outside).

Some people love the visual appearance of this cathedral, but others hate it too! (We love it!) The public aesthetic of the Cathedral of the Ascension of the Virgin has changed since it was built in 1971! Originally seen as a bit of a disgusting church, but in 2017 it was named the top ten most beautiful churches in the United States. We especially enjoyed the stunning stained glass, using concrete and the amazing shape of a saddle roof made of hyperbolic parabola!

The Cathedral of Santa Maria is not the church we generally think of. This is a church with a sense of design. It feels like a Catholic church. It is very special and beautiful. It attracts many people to visit and take pictures.

When I was drowsy in the car and my guide woke up with a shout from the bus, I looked blankly at the building and square in front of me. It was a very modern and special building. When I wondered what the attractions were, the tour guide had already led the team in front of me and walked in all the way. It turned out to be a church! Such a building is a church! St. Mary's Cathedral! This external and internal structure completely overthrows the traditional church! Looking up at the top of the building, the center presents a huge cross of sunlight and glass, but there is no pillar inside the church. There are tens of millions of churches, and very few churches can be remembered at a glance. This is the most amazing and personalized church besides the Saint Family Church in Barcelona. Later, I learned that this church was created by Pei Yiming, the famous Chinese designer who designed the Suzhou Museum and the railway station. No wonder it was so creative.

St. Mary's Cathedral, located in downtown San Francisco, is one of the three Cathedrals in California, USA. Its unique shape comes from the hand of the famous Chinese design master, I. M. Pei. We are very familiar with Pei's works, such as the Xiangshan Hotel in Beijing, the Bank of China Building in Hong Kong, and so on. They are all masterpieces that people will never forget. The church is also a landmark building in San Francisco.

The church is very distinctive and really big.
