During the "Piedra Rojas, Lagunas Altiplanicas y Salar" day trip, we passed this town and had lunch there. There is an interesting old church and tower, village square and local shops. The town is 38 kilometers from San Pedro de Atacama, at an altitude of 2,485 meters. The church tower was built in 1750. The locals here are involved in mining, fruit planting and handicraft work. If you are interested in archeology, or you are just crossing, it is worth a visit.
