Seen from the sea
When I saw this tower, lit up, I thought it was a mosque but none of the crew knew. One said it was a council building, I should have realised that it was more special than that.
The Victoria Tower standing at 245 feet, is part of the Inverclyde Municipal Buildings completed in 1889. It was being built at the same time as the Glasgow City Chambers, and apparently, Greenock ...
We were really impressed with this building. The locals seemed to just take it for granted but we thought it was a lovely building which added to Greenock.
A stunning piece of architecture. Sadly no time to explore the building further. It clearly shows what a dynamic past this town had in the days when ship-building dominated the town.
